02 · Expand by Modules, Not by Overcrowding Phase 1

Should the original 20,000-layer house later be pushed to 50,000?

Usually not. A more controllable strategy is to let Phase 1 operate at its designed capacity and add the future 30,000 birds in another properly designed house or module. Adding tiers or rows later can change airflow, electrical load, egg flow and manure handling.

03 · Feed Infrastructure

Design the feed route for 50,000—even if the first feeder serves 20,000.

The important expansion decision is not buying an oversized feeder now. It is placing the silo, truck access and feed-conveying route where the second house can connect efficiently later.

Reserve silo expansion space. Allow future storage or an additional silo.
Protect truck access. Feed delivery must still work after the second house is built.
Reserve central conveying routes. Leave connection space instead of buying every Phase 2 conveyor now.
Keep the route short and logical. Avoid placing Phase 1 buildings across the future feed path.

Which utilities should be expansion-ready from the beginning?

Water sources, main pipelines and electrical distribution are harder to relocate than cage equipment. Phase 1 should work safely at 20,000 layers while the site retains a clear upgrade path toward 50,000.
